This year the Bâtard Festival offers the stage to eight young performers from Belgium and The Netherlands. Some of them are still at college, while others are just getting to know the professional art field. But all of them feel the need to do what they do best. There are no strict boundaries between the different disciplines. There’s a visual artist who performs, a performance artist who writes, a writer who likes to work with dancers and improvisation artists, and a couple that make documentaries and dance videos. The festival lasts three days and starts on October 28. Several members of Corpus Kunstkritiek, a VTi initiative, will comment on the performances and will initiate a debate with the artists.
From 9 to 13 November, the Mestizo Arts Festival will take place in Antwerp. MAF is a multidisciplinary festival which focuses on cultural diversity. MAF offers a selection of workshops, debates, presentations of work in progress, film, theatre, dance and music. The festival also brings the artists face to face with each other, with the programmer and of course with the audience. The VTi will be organising several workshops, a debate and a speed dating session linked to the First-Aid project for young makers.
