Belgian EU pavilion by Conix Architects at the Expo 2010 in Shanghai

brains and durability

The pavilion by Conix Architects is conceived from the contrast between a gigantic Brain Cell on the one hand, symbolizing Belgium's artistic and scientific richness and our central position within Europe, and the building’s sober exterior on the other hand, referring to the openness and modesty of our country.
The Belgian EU pavilion will display our expertise in the field of mobility, durability and ecology,themes that were translated in the architecture with a steel structure that can be easily disassembled and recycled, a large public green space and more than 1000 m² solar panels.
