Audiovisual Arts

Flanders produces a wide range of audiovisual creations that are distributed and shown on a variety of circuits. It is work that fills seats in its own country, is shown and awarded prizes abroad, and explores the areas where it borders on art and/or enters into crossovers with other disciplines.Flanders is home to a striking abundance of talented short-film makers and have a strong animation film tradition. Our screening sector is equally varied: from megaplexes to independent cinemas, from arthouse cinemas, cultural and arts centres to showcase and niche festivals. World cinema, short films, animation film, documentary, media art: they are all given their own platform and together offer a varied range of domestic and international works. Audiovisual Flanders supports and stimulates our domestic talent and fosters an open mind and cross-border cooperation.

More information about the audiovisual sector can be found on the websites of BAM, Institute for visual, audiovisual and media art and Flanders Image.
